Jobar Synagogue, also known as the Eliyahu Hanavi Synagogue, is a Jewish temple and one of the oldest synagogues in the world. It is located in the Jobar neighborhood in the Syrian capital, Damascus. Its oldest foundation dates back to the 8th century BC, and it has been restored several times. The synagogue was a Jewish center throughout the ages, and it housed Torah manuscripts dating back to BC. In 2014, during the Syrian civil war, it was looted and destroyed and work is currently underway to restore it.
