Great Mosque of Sousse

Great Mosque of Sousse is a historical mosque located in the coastal city of Sousse, Tunisia. It was built in 851 AD during the rule of Aghlabid Dynasty and was commissioned by amir Abu al-‘Abbas Muhammad al-Aghlabi. The mosque was renovated and improved several times during the 10th and 17th centuries AD. The Great Mosque of Sousse was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988 as part of Medina of Sousse.
