Amphitheatre of El Jem, also called formerly Thysdrus, is a Roman amphitheater located in the city of El Djem in Mahdia Governorate, Tunisia. It was built in 238 AD and is considered one of the best preserved Roman ruins in the world. The Amphitheatre of El Jem was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979.
