Djado Fortified City, also known as Djado Ksar, is an archaeological fortified site located in the Djado Plateau in the Sahara Desert, north of Niger. The ruined ancient city and Djado Ksar (palace) lie within a small salt-water oasis on the southern tip of the plateau. The region was known in the past for the production of salt and dates, and it was inhabited by a group of ancient peoples and civilizations such as the Sao, Garamantes, Berbers, and Toubou people, in addition to other African population groups.
