      CarabaneCarabane, also known as Karabane, is an island and a village located in the south-west of Senegal. Portuguese sailors reached the west African coast in the 15th century AD, and in the 16th century, their traders became active in Carabane and its surroundings, mostly in search of wax, ivory, and slaves.
