The city is distinguished by its ancient history, as it was the cradle of many civilizations, such as the Hittites, Phrygians, Romans, Byzantines, Seljuqs and the Ottoman Empire. Among the most important features of the city there are the Suluhan caravansary (Ottoman era -17th century) and the Sultan Alâeddin Mosque (Seljuq era - 13th century).
