Atiq Mosque in Ghadamès

Atiq Mosque in Ghadamès, also the Old Mosque of Ghadamès, is a historical mosque located in the ancient city of Ghadames in Nalut District in northwestern Libya. The oldest history of the mosque dates back to the period of the Islamic conquests in the 7th century AD, then it was restored and expanded in the later periods. The mosque was destroyed during the Second World War and rebuilt again in a way that preserved its distinctive architectural style. Atiq Mosque was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986 as part of Old Town of Ghadames.
