Ghadames or Ghadamis is an oasis Berber town located in the Nalut District in northwestern Libya. In the 1st century BC it was a Roman settlement known as Cydamus. The city flourished in later periods, especially after the Islamic conquest, reaching the height of its glory as a trading station for caravans passing through the desert. The old town of Ghadames was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986.
The site is one of the elements that make up the UNESCO World Heritage site, Old Town of Ghadamès.
