Al ‘Aqabah is one of the important stops on the route of pilgrims' caravans from the city of Kufa to Mecca. Today, the station is located near the Iraqi-Saudi border, in the Najaf Governorate in Iraq. The site is surrounded by a group of small valleys sloping from the nearby high hills and includes a group of basins and water reservoirs in addition to a dam to collect water.
