Rock Drawings in Aïr and Ténéré
The ancient sites in Aïr and Ténéré reflect a group of archaeological sites and rock paintings that lie within the boundaries of the Aïr and Ténéré nature reserves in the Agadez region, north of Niger. The drawings scattered on the rocks of the mountains depict all the animals that man encountered there since the beginning of the Neolithic period, through the age of iron metallurgy, and up to historical times, along with some of his daily life practices. The rock drawings are characterized by their originality and peculiarities associated with people relationship with their arid environment throughout all stages of history.
