Adrar Bous
Adrar Bous is a massif located in the Aïr Mountains on the western edge of the Ténéré Desert in the Agadez region of northern Niger. The archaeological excavations in Adrar Bous have shed light on a group of archaeological discoveries that extend from the late Acheulean period (from about 1,76 million years ago to 130,000 years ago) until the Neolithic period (from 11,950 - 6,450 years ago). The Adrar Bous rock massif contains a number of ancient archaeological sites that include animal and human remains, most notably pottery and ritual tools that belonged to the ancient cattle herders in the Ténéré Desert. The finds also include a variety of microlithic tools (small stone tools made of flint that were used for scraping, cutting, and other uses).
