Sir Bu Nair Island is an island located in the Arabian Gulf and belongs to the Emirate of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates. The island is one of the most important marine reserves in the United Arab Emirates because it contains important environmental elements such as its unique geological formations and picturesque nature.
The island is also distinguished by its sandy beaches that sea turtles take as a haven for nesting and breeding, especially hawksbill turtles. The island is also distinguished by its natural flora and seabirds, including a number of distinctive birds including terns, gulls, red-billed bird, and Socotra cormorant.
It is also distinguished by its richness of fish and coral reefs.
Sir Bu Nair Island was submitted in 2012 to the UNESCO Tentative List in UAE.
