Jabal Bura Biosphere Reserve
Jabal Bura Nature Reserve, also known as Bura'a Biosphere Reserve, is a nature reserve located in the northeastern province of Al Hudaydah in Yemen. The reserve is a rugged, steep mountainous area with a maximum height of 2,200 meters above sea level, intersected by many deep valleys rich in rare and endangered endemic plant species.
The reserve also provides a habitat for many animals, including a large number of bird species and many reptiles, such as freshwater turtles and Yemen monitor (Varanus yemenensis).
Jabal Bura Biosphere Reserve was submitted in 2011 to the UNESCO Tentative List in Yemen as part of Jabal Bura.
