Zinder

Zinder is a historical city and former capital located in the Zinder region in southern Niger. The city benefited from its strategic location on the trans-Saharan trade routes and between Niamey, Chad and Nigeria, as it developed from just a small village into the capital of the Muslim Sultanate of Damagaram in 1736 AD. Among the most important remains of the city, there is the fort and the palace, which dates back to the mid-nineteenth century AD, during the reign of Sultan Tanimoune.
