Saint Mary Church of the Holy Belt
Saint Mary Church of the Holy Belt, also Um Al Zennar Cathedral, is a historical Syriac Orthodox cathedral located in Homs, Syria. The foundations of the church date back to 59 AD, when it was a secret place dedicated to Christian worship during the reign of the pagan Roman Empire at the time. The church was built at a later time during the Byzantine era. The current building dates back to the mid-nineteenth century. The church contains a sacred area that is supposed to house part of the belt of Mary (Holy Girdle).
