Prehistoric site of El Mekta is an archaeological site located near Gafsa in Gafsa Governorate, Tunisia. It belongs to the Capsian culture between 8000 – 2700 BC. The site considered one of the key sites for understanding the transition from the typical Capsian to the upper Capsian during the Epipalaeolithic. The Capsian culture is a Mesolithic and Neolithic culture centered in Tunisia and Algeria, and was named after the city of Gafsa in Tunisia.
