    Saidnaya is a city located in the mountains, north of the city of Damascus in Syria. The town has been inhabited since at least the 6th century BC when it was known by its Aramaic name, Danaba. It emerged as an important center of Christianity well before it was adopted as the official religion of the Roman empire. The town contains several Monasteries, among them is The Convent of Our Lady of Saidnaya, one of the most ancient Monasteries in the world . It was constructed by the Byzantine emperor Justinian I in 547 AD. .
