Sadd Al-Hasid
Sadd Al-Hasid is an old dam from the pre-Islamic period located south of Khaybar in Al Madinah Region in Saudi Arabia. The dam consists of two closely located dams forming a water retention system for irrigation. The northern dam has a stepped design on both sides for stability and maintenance access, with a walkway on top. It features an arched outlet at the base for water and sediment control, and is made from local basalt blocks. The smaller southern dam retains original plasters and has a partially preserved water outlet. Despite the surrounding land being too salty for farming, the dams still retain water, showcasing enduring engineering and maintenance over time.
The site is one of the elements included in the UNESCO Tentative List for World Heritage designation, Water Management in Saudi Arabia: The Ancient Dams.Elevation: 779 m
