Pimachiowin Aki Cultural Landscape
Pimachiowin Aki, meaning "The Land That Gives Life", is a natural forest area that covers parts of the provinces of Manitoba and Ontario in Canada. The forest has great cultural significance as the sacred home of the Anishinaabe, a group of indigenous peoples present in the Great Lakes region of Canada and the United States. This area preserves the traditional wild lifestyles of these indigenous peoples, including hunting and gathering, and contains ancient rock art and multiple burial sites. Pimachiowin Aki Cultural Landscape was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2018 as part of Pimachiowin Aki.
