    Nabta Playa was once a large internally drained basin in the Nubian Desert, located approximately 800 kilometers south of modern-day Cairo. Today the region is characterized by numerous archaeological sites.
    The site is one of the elements included in the UNESCO Tentative List for World Heritage designation, Kharga Oasis and the Small Southern Oases.
