Mor Dimet Church
Mor Dimet Church is a historic Syriac Orthodox church located in Midyat, Mardin Province, Turkey. It was built in different time stages, with some sources indicating its completion at the beginning of the 4th century AD, in line with the period of the spread of Christianity among the Assyrians. The church is located in the village of İzbırak, and over the centuries it has remained a spiritual center for the local Assyrian community. The church was restored and officially reopened for worship in September 2021. Notably, the church features unique Akkadian cuneiform inscriptions on its exterior walls, underscoring its historical importance even before the advent of Christianity.
