Lake Retba
Lake Retba or Lac Rose (Pink Lake) is a lake located northeast of the Senegalese capital, Dakar. The lake is famous for its pink color due to the presence of a certain type of algae in its waters. The lake contains a large proportion of salt, up to 40% in some areas, and therefore there is an activity based on collecting salt from it dating back to several centuries ago.
