Great Mosque of Kufa is a historic mosque located in Kufa, Iraq. It was founded in 639 AD by Sahabi Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas during the time of the second Rashidun Caliph Umar ibn Al-Khattab. The mosque has previously underwent sporadic renovations and is considered one of the earliest and holiest surviving mosques in the world.
