Jokpel Mound is an archaeological settlement site located east of Rumbek in Lakes State, South Sudan, near the boundary between the ironstone uplands and seasonally flooded grasslands. Archaeological excavations identified four phases of occupation, including settlement activity probably dating to the latter half of the first millennium AD. Discoveries include pottery decorated with woven-mat impressions, clay cattle figurines, animal bones, and the remains of hardened clay floors and wooden posts. The upper layers also reveal the site's more recent use as a cattle camp by Dinka communities.
