Jibla, Yemen
Jibla is a historical city located in Ibb Governorate, Yemen. It was founded in the 11th century AD and lies on the northeastern slope of Mount At-Taʿkar at about 2,000 meters above sea level. The city became the capital of the Sulayhid state when Queen Arwa al-Sulayhi moved the seat of power there and built the Great Mosque of Jibla beside her mausoleum, along with palaces, schools, bridges, and advanced water systems.
The site is one of the elements included in the UNESCO Tentative List for World Heritage designation, Jiblah City.
