Hajar al-Barīrah
Hajar al-Barīrah is an important archaeological site located in Shabwah Governorate, southern Yemen, on the northern bank of Wādī Jirdān. It was founded in the early 1st millennium BC and developed as one of the major urban and commercial centers of the Kingdom of Hadramawt. Owing to its strategic position along inland trade routes, Hajar al-Barīrah functioned as a key station for regional and long-distance commerce.
The site is one of the elements included in the UNESCO Tentative List for World Heritage designation, The Archaeological Sites of the Kingdom of Hadramout in Shabwah.Elevation: 1050 m
