Gjirokastër
Gjirokastër

Gjirokastër is a city located in Gjirokastër County in Albania. It was founded Byzantine in the 3rd amd 4th centuries&AD. In 1417 the city became part of the Ottoman Empire. Gjirokastër was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005 as part of Historic Centres of Berat and Gjirokastra because it represents (a rare example of a well-preserved Ottoman town, built by farmers of large estate).
