El Khandaq
El Khandaq is a town in northern Sudan on the River Nile. It is the site of an important fortress with beginnings dating to the Christian Period. It is believed that Salomo of Makuria, ruler of the Nubian kingdom of Makuria, was buried at the site.
The site is included on the UNESCO Tentative List under the official name, Al Khandaq Village.Elevation: 245 m
