Dhat Ghaylam
Dhat Ghaylam (modern Hajar bin Hamid) is an archaeological site located in Bayhan District, Shabwah Governorate, southern Yemen, on the eastern bank of Wadi Bayhan. It was founded in the later centuries of the 1st millennium BC and served as the final capital of the Kingdom of Qataban. The city occupies a prominent tell rising approximately 15 meters above the surrounding plain and overlooks extensive irrigated agricultural lands supported by canals, dams, and wells. Its strategic position facing the caravan route to Haribat via the stone-paved pass underscores its role as a political and administrative center during the kingdom’s final phase.
The site is one of the elements included in the UNESCO Tentative List for World Heritage designation, Archaeological Sites of the Kingdom of Qataban in Behan.Elevation: 1085 m
