Borj El Ghazi Mustapha
Borj El Ghazi Mustapha, also known as Borj El Kebir or Ghazi Mustapha Tower, is an old fort located in Houmt El Souk in Djerba island, Tunisia. It was built in 1392 AD following the orders of the Hafsid Sultan Abu Faris Abd al-Aziz II. In 1567 AD, during the Ottomans era, the fort was renovated and extended by Ghazi Mustapha. In 1903 AD it became a property of the Tunisian authorities who and transformed it into a museum 1904 AD. The site was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2023 as part of Djerba: Testimony to a Settlement Pattern in an Island Territory.
