Abu Salabikh
Abu Salabikh is an ancient Sumerian archaeological site located in Al-Qadisiyah Governorate, Iraq. The city flourished during the mid-third millennium BC and maintained strong cultural and political connections with major Mesopotamian centers such as Kish, Mari, and Ebla. The Euphrates River served as the city's vital artery, its main route for trade, communication, and sustenance. However, when the river gradually shifted its course during the mid-third millennium BC, Abu Salabikh lost its strategic and economic importance. As a result, the settlement declined and was eventually abandoned.
