El-Kouf National Park

El-Kouf National Park is a national park located in Wadi El Kouf area, west of the city of Bayda, in the northeastern side of Libya, on the shore of the Mediterranean Sea. The park, which covers a wide area bordered by the limestone mass of Jabel Al-Akhdar, includes the large basin area of Wadi El Kouf, and also beaches, rocky cliffs, sand dunes and ephemeral lagoons.
The vegetation consists of scattered grasses, shrubs and trees such as Atlas cedar, Phoenician juniper, Pistacia lentiscus, Arbutus pavarii, and other trees. The park is also home to many animals such as the striped hyena, the Egyptian wolf, the wild boar, the red fox, the Dama deer, the African wildcat, as well as the Barbary macaque.
In marine areas, there is the common dolphin and the loggerhead sea turtle. The park is also home to many species of migratory and endemic birds such as Golden eagle, Egyptian vulture, Barbary partridges, Common quails, Great bustard, Houbara bustards, Black storks, White storks, and other species.
