Ashaafean Biosphere Reserve
Ashaafean Biosphere Reserve, or Msallata Nature Reserve, is a nature reserve located in Murqub District, west of the city of Msallata in western Libya. The reserve has a diversity of vegetation, from woodland and grassy steppes in the north to arid desert regions in the south.
Ashaafean Biosphere Reserve is home to a large number of plants, especially rare herbs, in addition to several species of birds and animals, some of which are classified as endangered.
Ashaafean Biosphere Reserve is included in the UNESCO World Network of Biosphere Reserves (WNBR).
