Diawling National Park is a protected area located in southwestern Mauritania around the delta of the Senegal River. The reserve is distinguished by its richness in terms of biodiversity and the presence of a mixture of fresh and salt water in the delta of the Senegal River, which contributes to the availability of food and the abundance of fish.
Diawling National Park is home to a wide range of bird species such as pelicans, black storks, flamingos, Caspian terns, African spoonbills, great egrets, and many others. Among the mammals found in the reserve are spotted hyenas, African golden wolves, warthogs, African wildcats, Cape hares and patas monkeys.
