Boubyan Island and Mubarak Al-Kabeer Marine Reserve

Boubyan Island and Mubarak Al-Kabeer Marine Reserve are a group of pristine marine and terrestrial ecosystems inhabited by a rich and unique biodiversity. Bubiyan Island is the largest island in Kuwait and the second largest island in the Arabian Gulf after Qeshm Island.
It includes a complex network of tidal channels, creeks, and shallow salt marshes, in addition to coastal nabkhas (type of sand dune). The area has a variety of fish and marine organisms life, and it is also a point at the crossroads of bird migration in the world, primary breeding sites and abundant feeding grounds for large numbers of birds, including some threatened and semi-threatened marine species
Boubyan Island and Mubarak Al-Kabeer Marine Reserve was submitted in 2017 to the UNESCO Tentative List in Kuwait.
