    Nablus is a Palestinian city founded by the Roman Emperor Vespasian in 72 AD as Flavia Neapolis. It has been ruled by many empires over the course of it s almost 2,000-year-long history. The city includes many historical monuments such as ancient mosques and the Roman theatre.
    The site is one of the elements included in the UNESCO Tentative List for World Heritage designation, Old Town of Nablus and its environs.
