Great Mosque of Touba

Great Mosque of Touba is historic mosque located in the city of Touba in central Senegal. It was founded by Amadou Bamba in 1887 AD and completed in 1963. Bamba, who was interred inside the mosque, was a Sufi saint (Wali) and religious leader and the founder of the Mouride brotherhood (a Sufi order prominent in Senegal and The Gambia). The mosque is the largest building in Touba and one of the largest mosques in Africa.
