Mazouna is a historic town located in the Dahra Mountains of Relizane Province, northwestern Algeria. Its history dates back to the medieval period, when it served as a center of the Maghrawa Berber dynasty. During the 16th century, Mazouna became the first capital of the Ottoman Beylik of the West, developing into an important administrative, religious, and cultural center. The old town preserves a traditional Islamic urban layout, with narrow streets, historic mosques, religious schools, public baths, and remnants of defensive walls. Particularly notable is its historic religious school, which attracted students and scholars from across the region.
