Kasbah of the Udayas

Kasbah of the Udayas is a historic kasbah (fortified citadel) located in Rabat, Morocco. It was originally built as a small fortification by the last Almoravid emirs, Tashfin ibn Ali (1143–1145 AD). After Almohads defeated the Almoravids, they destroyed the ribat and built the new kasbah in 1150 by orders the Almohad caliph Abd al-Mu'min. The kasbah was fortified and expanded several times in later periods. Kasbah of the Udayas was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2012 as part of Rabat, Modern Capital and Historic City a Shared Heritage.
