Gordium
Gordium or Gordion, was the capital city of ancient Phrygia. It is located about 70-80 km southwest of Ankara. The city is dating back to the 12th century BC. The main elements of this archaeological site include the citadel mound, the lower city, the outer city and fortifications, and numerous burial mounds, tombs and tumuli with the surrounding landscape. The site was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2023.
