It was built between 1839 and 1855 AD, and serves as the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of St. John's. The basilica-cathedral, designed in the Lombard Romanesque style, is one of the largest and most architecturally significant churches in Canada, known for its twin towers and rich history as a symbol of faith in the region.
