Aphrodisias was a small ancient Greek city in the historic Caria cultural region of western Anatolia, Turkey. It is located near the modern village of Geyre southeast of İzmir. The city was the provincial capital of the region and Roman province of Caria. Aphrodisias was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2017.
