    Amrit, also known as Marathos, Marathus, was an ancient Phoenician city located near Tartus in Syria. Founded in the third millennium BC and abandoned during the 2nd century BC, the city's Phoenician ruins have been preserved in their entirety without extensive remodeling by later generations.
