The Oman Youth Sail Training Ship programme, Safinat Shabab Oman, promotes peace and sustainable cultural dialogue by introducing Oman’s living heritage to communities around the world. Through international voyages reaching many countries, the programme preserves traditional sailing as a cultural legacy while using it as a platform to share Omani arts, literature, crafts, and other forms of intangible heritage.
Young people of all genders take part in the voyages, cultural events, sailing training, festivals, and international races, serving as cultural ambassadors for Oman. In collaboration with heritage practitioners, they help present and transmit traditional knowledge and skills.
By linking youth participation with accredited university hours, the programme supports continuity for future generations. Safinat Shabab Oman highlights the role of culture in strengthening dialogue, communication, peace, and respect for global cultural diversity.

Oman Youth Sail Training Ship (Safinat Shabab Oman) Programme for Peace and Sustainable Cultural Dialogue was inscribed in 2024 on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in Oman.
