Rabat is the capital of Morocco. The city is located on the Atlantic Ocean at the mouth of the river Bou Regreg. It was founded in 1146 AD by the Almohad ruler Abd al-Mu'min. The Kasbah of the Udayas, which is located within the city, was built in the 12th century AD during the reign of the Almohad Caliphate. Rabat was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2012.
